ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 17, 2020) – Former Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Louie Sanchez, released the following statement announcing his endorsement of fellow Republican Elisa Martinez:

“I have given much thoughtful consideration to which candidate I will support moving forward in the United States Senate race,” said Louie Sanchez. “After speaking to each candidate individually, getting his or her perspective on our state, the issues, the campaign, the staffs to whom they listen and trust, and most importantly, who has the best plan to defeat Ben Ray Lujan in November, I truly believe Elisa Martinez is our best choice to flip New Mexico red for the U.S. Senate.”

Elisa resoundingly won the New Mexico Republican State Pre-Primary Convention on March 7, earning 35% of the delegate vote in a crowded 5-way race.

“Elisa made an overwhelmingly strong showing in winning the pre-primary, and clearly emerged the definitive leader for the Senate seat,” added Sanchez. I will help in any way I can to make sure her momentum and message continue to reach voters throughout our state, because we must secure this win. Crossover vote is the only way to do it, and Elisa has demonstrated that she has what it takes to execute her plan and capture those votes. In response to the endorsement, Elisa Martinez released the following statement:
